I love photographing Weddings in Wellington, NZ. It has to be one of the best cities in the world with a brilliant vibe and countless amazing photographic opportunities within a stones-throw of the city centre. But every now and then I get to shoot a little further afield and I love the challenge of shooting somewhere completely new. Add to that that the location of this recent wedding shoot was a volcano and I was in my element!
Tan Wei Lin & Lim Yu Xian came to New Zealand from Singapore for a pre-wedding holiday in mid-April. It is not unusual in Singapore to have your wedding photo-shoot well before your wedding day and I have to admit it was a real treat for me to be able to shoot a wedding couple without the pressures of time I am used to. Perhaps this is something that we should consider making a bit more mainstream here in NZ. What a great idea! Imagine a wedding where you didn’t have to leave your guests for even a few minutes for your photos! We spent a few relaxed hours (rather than just one) finding cool locations and setting up lighting around Mt Ruapehu and Ohakune. I thoroughly enjoyed myself (and I think they did to!).
Tan Wei Lin & Lim Yu Xian were awesome to work with, lots of fun and like me awed by the stunning NZ landscape. It was a perfect day weather-wise as well, with moody storm clouds rolling over the landscape beneath us while parting to give us a blast of hot sunshine and a peak of Mt Ruapehu when needed 😉
Thanks guys for choosing me to be the lucky photographer – it was a real pleasure spending an afternoon half way up a volcano with you both – best of luck for your big day!
Awesome work mate
